Welcome to Crimestoppers
What is Crimestoppers?
Crimestoppers is a charitable trust allowing members of the public to pass on information about crime anonymously, and possibly earn a reward.
The trust was set up in 1988 and is the only UK charity aimed at putting criminals behind bars through an anonymous Freephone number: 0800 555 111.
Callers with information on crime are not asked to give their name, and therefore they are safe from reprisals.
Since Crimestoppers began in 1988, the organisation has received almost half a million calls, resulting in 44,800 arrests. The scheme has also been responsible for recovering property worth £55 million, and drugs worth over £60 million.
On average, information given to Crimestoppers results in 14 arrests every day. There are 40 arrests each week for drug offences, and one for murder or attempted murder.
